This is a legal requirement for all children in NZ to be safely secured in a car seat within a moving vehicle. Car seats can be placed by your child’s bag if they are being picked up by someone else.

Each term we talk and practice what we would do if there was an emergency at Sunflowers. The children learn the actions they need to take in case of an emergency.

It is a Ministry of Education requirement that all ECC have a cyber-safety policy and all parents/caregivers are required to sign to say they have viewed this document.

Please inform teachers if your child has had a head injury or major bump to the head since they last attended preschool. Head injuries can be delayed and serious. Look for signs of vomiting, fluid around the nose/ears and head ache.

If your child has a reaction, allergies or a special requirement please make this clear on your child’s enrolment form. If they have a medical ACTION plan please provide the teachers with this information.

If your child requires medication please give this to a staff member so it can be stored safely. You will be required to fill out a form for this to be administered by a teacher. At the end of the day you will need to sign to acknowledge what has been carried out. Please don’t leave any medication in your child’s bag.

All significant accidents are recorded on an Incident form. The teacher involved with the incident and first aider will provide information for you to sign to acknowledge what has occurred.

The preschool is a smoke free environment. Dogs and pets are not allowed on the premises without teacher consent.

We encourage parents to apply sunscreen in the morning before your child attends. There is sunscreen that can be applied on the sign in table. Please inform staff if your child has sensitive skin and please provide their own named sunscreen if needed.

A register containing details of each child’s immunisation record is required for Crown Health notification. The register may be used to identify children who are not immunised during an outbreak. Information is confidential. You are asked to provide updates at 15 months and 4 years after your child has had these immunisations completed.

The lines of communication for complaints are displayed on the notice board at the entrance and outlined in the Parent Policies which are received in your enrolment packs.

Canterbury District Health Board come to test your child’s vision and hearing once they are 4 years old. You will be notified of this before the day

• If your child will not attend because they are sick please text a message to Nicky Gardner 0210485415. • You will still be charged full fees if your child is sick or unable to attend. • Sick children are not to attend the centre until 24 hours after they have received their first dose of antibiotics. • Children are not to attend the centre until 48 hours after having vomiting or diarrhoea • Your child can’t attend if they have conjunctivitis, head lice or any infectious diseases.
